Macally PowerLink for iPhone 3G

Another Must Have iPhone Accessory
“Warning 20% battery life”. This has been the story of my life. It would seem that I run out of battery power on my iPhone 3G way before I run out of talk. And the warning messages of 20% and 10% power remaining happen so close that there is not much you can do about it.

Until now, that is.

Bill Helman, one of our favorite manufacturer representatives, Grabil Technologies, just sent me a MacAlly PowerLink. MacAlly, known for decades for their many clever and proactive accessories for the Mac, have hit a home run with this little device.
The PowerLink, about the size of a Bic lighter, is a backup battery supply for the iPhone. In fact, MacAlly say that it can extend battery life up to 25 minutes. That should be long enough to finish your phone call. The PowerLink also provides a flash drive for temporary storage of 2 GB of data. Real nice. And when you get your dead battery iPhone back to your home or office, you can use PowerLink to connect it to your computer for recharging and syncing.

All three features work great. Right out of the box. I had no problem using the PowerLink for powering, connecting, charging or storing data. While it’s not the fastest form of data storage - but what flash drive really is - it has been really handy in moving files from one place to another, or just for backup of important project files.

I’m a firm believer that “Less is More” and this strategy applies to my mobile office. My objective is to eliminate clumsy devices and ‘rats nest’ cords and cables from my notebook case. Minimal but fully functional. I’ve replaced my iPhone cord and a Flash Drive with the PowerLink. Great space economy.
This little device won’t bring world peace or solve the problems with the economy. But it sure is worth it’s weight in gold, and a bargain at double the price.
